I Dreamed I Was a Doorman at the Hotel del Coronado is Dr. Seuss’s rendering of this fantastic beach resort, which opened in 1888. The Del’s red-shingled roofs and storybook style make it a fairy-tale castle in full Victorian splendor. An historic landmark, The Del has hosted 11 Presidents and a steady stream of celebrities from Charlie Chaplin and Humphrey Bogart to Brad Pitt and Madonna. Ted could see The Del from his Tower Studio.
